(1861) circular datestamp and "Way" straightline struck over embossed stamp on 3c Red on Buff Star Die entire (U26) addressed to New Orleans, sender's directive "Steamer 'Genl. Hodges", a bit of soiling at bottom left, Very Fine and rare, the General Hodges operated on the Mississippi and Red Rivers, use of this marking during the Confederate period is exceedingly rare, C.S.A. catalog value for this handstamp on U.S. entire with or without the clerk's name is $1,500.00 (Image)
