1095		New York Steam Ship Markings on Mail from Cuba. Four folded covers (three with letters), incl. Jan. 1849 to Portland Me. on first return trip of USMSC Falcon with red "STEAM/SHIP" and matching "12-1/2" in circle rate handstamps (scarce in red, illustrated in Wierenga book, p. 45), Nov. 1849 to Portland carried on Ohio with red "New-York Ship Dec. 9" circular datestamp and matching "12-1/2" in circle (also scarce) -- these two make a beautiful matched pair -- followed by Mar. 1850 to Buffalo carried on Ohio with 'STEAM/SHIP" and matching "12-1/2" in circle rate handstamp in black, and Dec. 1850 with same 'STEAM/SHIP" and ms.
