BERMUDA, 1874, 3p on 1p Rose (11, SG 12). Part original gum, especially rich color, centered to the left as are all known examples, certificate mentions a horizontal bend and minor soiling, both of which are quite trivial

FINE. AN ATTRACTIVE EXAMPLE OF THE 1874 3-PENCE ON ONE-PENCE SURCHARGE. THIS IS ONE OF THE KEY RARITIES OF BERMUDA.

Only one pane of 60 stamps received this surcharge. Three blocks of four and one block of six are recorded. Of the 42 remaining singles, about eight are used and some have undoubtedly been lost to philately, leaving a very small number of unused singles available.
