Three-ring binder containing Plate Proofs on Card for issues from 1847 thru Columbian Issues and Back-of-Book, accompanied by typed letter signed and dated April 30, 1894, to Hon. G. F. Kribbs, House of Representatives in Washington D.C. and reading "Sir: I enclose herewith one full set of proof specimens of all the postage stamps issued by this Department since 1847, the year of their adoption. Permit me to add that these proofs are not intended for general distribution, the supply being very limited", includes the 1847 Issue, 1851 Issue, LO1, LO2, 1861 Issue, 1869 Pictorials, Bank Notes (less 1890 Issue), Special Delivery, Columbians, one set of Postage Due, all Officials, some Newspaper, sets are accompanied by original envelopes such as "United States Postage Stamps Issue 1873 Department of Justice" etc., uniformly large margins and bright colors

VERY FINE. A DESIRABLE AND RARE "SET" OF PLATE PROOFS WITH PRESENTATION ENVELOPES AND THE ORIGINAL TRANSMITTAL LETTER.

George Frederick Kribbs was elected in 1891 as Representative of the 28th District of Pennsylvania. He served until 1895 but was unsuccessful in his attempt for renomination in 1894 (possibly because he missed 131 of 664 recorded roll call votes).
