16d paid double the 1 July 1876 to 1 April 1879 rate of 8d for ½ oz. via Brindisi, for a total of one shilling, 4 pence. The 8d stamp issued on 12 Sept. 1876 to prepay the new Australia and Far East rate was printed in half panes and guillotined to produce two sheets. This resulted in imperforate right vertical margins in the "F" column and left vertical margins in the "G" column. These stamps are considered quite rare.
