Mailed from Betty (Pookie) Delany to her fiancé soldier Kenneth (Butch) Pennifold, R.C.A. F. R121758 stationed at APO 935, Debert 70TV, #3 Repair Depot, 21TS, etc. Fighter Squadron #115. A fascinating WWII correspondence providing an insight to their intimate and romantic personal lives, wedding plans and marriage. The native Edmonton couple was married in Edmonton on October 27th, 1944 during Ken's military leave. The letters range from 2 to 10 pages long, usually 6. A clean 32 page collection includes MPO numbers 101 to 1315, each with opening dates, locations and notes, includes CAPO 1, 4, 5, 10. Back of the album contains a selection of 14 matched covers commemorating Armed Forces Day June 8th, 1968 from various cities, each cover has an Armed Forces Day slogan cancel with additional postmarks of Ottawa JUN.8.1968 and CFB Rockcliffe. Official Souvenir From the Field Post Office No. 1 Niagara Camp, being a thick cardboard printed in blue on one side with a long message from the Postmaster General, plus an impression of the Niagara Camp datestamp dated JUN.6.1909. CEF Soldier's Family Photo Album, intact and scarce, from the period 1914 to 1920, with 172 photos, all identified by names, locations and dates, owned by Pte. J.A. (Alex) Adam 13471 PPCLI, from Coalhurst, Alberta. He enlisted in 1915 and was killed in action on September 28, 1918 at Cambrai, in the Département du Nord - an important supply point for the German Siegfriedstellung (known to the British as the Hindenburg Line). Two important photos here include 13th OMR's in Cardston, Alberta in 1915, a rare group photo with 22 soldiers in uniform and tent. Also a 13th Overseas Mounted Rifles in Medicine Hat, Alberta in 1915 another group photo with 7 soldiers in dress uniforms. 17 of the photos are specifically military related, balance show this soldier in casual dress with extended family, travel photos, Banff Indian Day, Southern Alberta, BC, Saskatchewan photos, etc. Also included is a group of WWI military CEF/AEF covers (x12) and cards (x7) from overseas soldiers, 1914 to 1919. 1900 Boer War Cover, mailed from Thaba Nchu (O.V.S.) on SEP.7.1900 and franked with a 2½d stamp, then received a purple Canadian Contingent / South Africa datestamp on SEP.17.1900, then presumably went through GB before it arrived at its destination of Barrie, Ontario on OCT.15 (receiver on back). The next day it was forwarded to Toronto where it was received (on back) on OCT.16. A lovely Second Canadian Contingent cover, which are not commonly seen franked as such, very fine. (Scan a)

1900 Multi-Franked Boer War Cover, mailed at ARMY P.O. 53 / SOUTH AFRICA (four NOV.25 c.d.s. cancels in green) and franked with 4 different stamps, one each from Cape of Good Hope, Great Britain, South Africa and Canada (2c Map stamp).
