1298 CVR   imageGroup of Six NB Stampless Folded Letters, starting with a St John NB straightline postmark dated "Feb'y 14,1810" on the back of a folded letter mailed to Fredericton (no contents), a St John Fleuron datestamp (light strike) dated NOV.11.1815 on folded letter to Fredericton, 1853 St John PAID double broken circle in red on three folded letters (1849 to 1853), one to Philadelphia, one to Bangor ME and one to Fredericton, and a St John NB double circle on an 1841 folded letter to Fredericton (no contents). 1299 CVR   image1869 Way Office Large Queen Cover, mailed from W.O. Riverside NB (June 30, 1869 manuscript date) to St John NB, with P.O. Hopewell Cape NB and Saint John backstamps. The cover is franked with a 2c and a 3c Large Queen paying the proper rate in the period just before the Small Queens were issued. MacManus states this is one of two covers reported with this Way Office postmark, and the earliest. Very fine, with very light aging. (Scan a) (Scan b) (All Scans)

1300   imageGroup of Four Postmarking Instruments from New Brunswick, with a brass "MISSENT TO", a brass oval grid and a steel "W.O. MACES BAY N.B. / PAID" double broken circle and a circular brass "PAID / 5 / CENTS". The first three have short wooden handles "stumpers" and the fourth has a hand-crafted wooden handle with birch bark contour (very worn).
