Accompanied by a 2017 edition of The Canadian Stamp Revenue Catalogue by E. S. J. van Dam. (Scan a) (Scan b) (Scan c) (Scan d) (Scan e) (All Scans)

FWS1-4 var imagePoster Depicting the Image Appearing on the 1918 War Savings Stamps, being an image of Ypres in 1915, from an original drawing done by Sir Bernard Partridge for Punch magazine. This is an ad published by General Motors of Canada on behalf of the Victory Loan in 1941 which depicts an "In Flanders Fields" poem, patriotic text and the image used on the War Savings stamps of 1918. It measures 28.5 x 44.5 cm and is fresh and very fine, attached to a card backing. A wonderful collateral item to add to a Revenue collection or exhibit and an ideal companion to the die proof and other War Savings lots listed here. (Scan a) Est $ 100

FWS1-4 var imageWorld War I War Savings Stamps Poster, an original poster measuring 20½ x 27 inches, printed and issued by the National War-Savings Committee, Ottawa. These were folded twice to be mailed to post offices for display, and this one appears to have escaped any public display, as evidenced by its gorgeous condition, bright colours and such. It depicts a large $5 stamp (FWS2) in colour of issue (green) plus nine smaller 25c stamps (FWS1) in brown. This poster alerted the public for the purchase of the 1918 series of War Savings Stamps, as listed by van Dam as #s FWS1-4. A very rare showpiece, which has been stored in a non-smoking and archival environment for the past 100 years. There is a small (insignificant) repair in the lower left margin, else a remarkable poster, in fresh original condition, offered in a rigid top-loader protective sleeve for viewing. Another great addition to the other lots we offer pertaining to this interesting issue. (Scan a) Est $ 750

FWS5-15 var imageWorld War II War Savings Stamps Poster, an original poster measuring 12 x 18 inches, mounted on heavy card stock (C1S) with counter display cardboard back support. It depicts a soldier holding a $5 War Savings Certificate and a stamp image showing a 25c stamp plus a chart of prices (eg. $5 for $4, $100 for $80, etc.). This poster is extremely fresh, with vibrant colours and essentially intact, still in its original mailing envelope, being an OE Kraft 12½ x 18½ inches, stamped "ENGLISH" in lower right corner. The poster has never been opened or displayed and is in pristine condition. (Scan a) Est $ 150

O FX14/FX19 image1923 High Value Revenue Cheque, "no. 135 Stamp Tax Demand Notes and Other papers" from the Bank of Toronto, datestamped paid on DEC.31.1923. The excise tax was paid by affixing a total of $556 in stamps, with $10 (x55), $5 (x1) and $1 (x1). Sadly, eight of the stamps have since fallen off. This excise tax was paid charging the St Maurice paper Co. Ltd. of Three Rivers for a transaction valued at $1,390,000 (over $19 million today). An exceptional showpiece, in that the largest franking on such a document known is $100 (as per van Dam correspondence), and in that large frankings are usually only found on much larger sized documents, and this is a complete document which would display quite nicely in a revenue exhibit or album page. Small tears and repaired tear, still fine. (Scan a) (Scan b) (All Scans)
