The main purpose of this organization was to find work and housing for unemployed fellow Scandinavians and to raise funds to aid them. The organization had a Central Committee in Pretoria and a Local Committee in Johannesburg. Mr Uggla became CO of the Scandinavia Corps on its formation. rnVeldcornet (Captain) Jens Friis led a group of about 20 volunteers from Pretoria to reinforce the Corps in Jan 1900. It was reorganized with Capt Friis in command. He was taken prisoner after the Battle of Paardeberg, along with 46 other Corps members. See lot for another card addressed to Capt Friis.
