4489 ogOc   imageUS 'TREASURE HUNT' COLLECTION.

Housed in one volume, this is a collection/ accumulation of several hundreds, mostly used, stamps with much from the classics to the 1930s, including some very attractive 19th century items. Highlights include the 1851 10cts green Washington imperf four margins, 1857 10cts green perf with blue cancel and excellent centering plus a further 10cts green pair with red cds, then the 12cts and 24cts Washingtons with shades on the latter, followed by blackjacks and grills to check, as well as 10cts Washingtons and 30cts orange Franklins to investigate. Also seen the 1861 90cts blue with some short perfs otherwise sound, the 1869 pictorials well worth studying inc. the 10cts, 15cts brown and blue x3, etc, leading on to an excellent range of postmarks on the 1870/80s inc. blue segmented circles, etc. Often material is stacked on the other, making this a challenging viewing requiring tongs and time. The commems also strong with Columbus to 50cts x3, Omahas to 50cts x2, Louisiana Purchase complete x2, early 20th century defins with interesting Washington/Franklins with much potential here, as well as Norse-Americans in blocks of four, etc, etc. The back of the book here is extremely diverse and equally good with probably the best section being the 19th century revenues, here with over 100 written up one of a kind on old-fashioned quadrille album leaves including key values, the second series almost complete to $5, six newspaper stamps to 25cts red all different with two shades on each value, as well as New Orleans locals to research. Also seen, airmails inc. postal history with three zeppelin flights, yet further revenues, as well as an interesting group of errors, etc. Also seen Guam guard mail, Hawaii from ,banknotes onwards and much more waiting to be processed, covering the gamut, especially the 19th century which is the main strength in all categories. Completely uncataloged with the holding in various degrees of condition as to be expected, yet on the whole far better than normally encountered with many pleasant surprises to be discovered. It is well worth careful inspection with much more than described, representing many years of accumulation. So much more here, dealers make sure this is on your list of lots to view. Please study photoplate to get a flavor of this lot and its enormous potential.
