602 c 15 image#15, 1859 5c Vermilion, precancelled with five vertical bars, small faults, affixed to cover to South Monasshan, C.W., partially clear "Mill-brook, C.W./No 16, 66" datestamp and faint red backstamp, reduce a bit irregularly at right, otherwise fine; the only recorded example of this pre-cancel on cover and one of the most important items for the Canada pre-cancel collector; the Mill-brook Postmaster cancelled sheets of the 5c Beaver in advance and placed them on letters as they were brought in, the Bellville Postmaster also followed this procedure. 603 c 15 image#15, 1859 5c Vermilion, single with deep luxuriant color, tied by four ring cancel to cover to Synden, matching "Ontario, C.W./Nov ?, 1868" datestamp, with "MISSENT-TO" straightline handstamp and "Clifton, C.W./Nov 16, 1868" c.d.s., with manuscript "try Lynden", cover with small corner nick at bottom right, very fine; there was no such such post office as Synden, the manuscript "try Lynden" was added by post office staff, Clifton and Lynden were about 50 miles apart on the Great Western Railway, Clifton had earlier been Suspension Bridge and later became Niagara Falls; ex-Dale-Lichtenstein.
