#15, 1859 5c Vermilion, single tied by clear "London, C.W./De 27, 67" Berri duplex postmark to buff cover addressed to Byng Inlet, via Penetanguihene, blue "Penetanguishene, U.C./De 28, 1867" backstamp, cover a bit reduced at left and with rounded corners at right, fine; the Byng Inlet post office was not opened until the following year; a rare Winter Mail cover carried by courier or Dog Team, being one of only two recorded examples. #15, 1859 5c Vermilion, precancelled with five vertical bars, small faults, affixed to cover to South Monasshan, C.W., partially clear "Mill-brook, C.W./No 16, 66" datestamp and faint red backstamp, reduce a bit irregularly at right, otherwise fine; the only recorded example of this pre-cancel on cover and one of the most important items for the Canada pre-cancel collector; the Mill-brook Postmaster cancelled sheets of the 5c Beaver in advance and placed them on letters as they were brought in, the Bellville Postmaster also followed this procedure. #15, 1859 5c Vermilion, single with deep luxuriant color, tied by four ring cancel to cover to Synden, matching "Ontario, C.W./Nov ?, 1868" datestamp, with "MISSENT-TO" straightline handstamp and "Clifton, C.W./Nov 16, 1868" c.d.s., with manuscript "try Lynden", cover with small corner nick at bottom right, very fine; there was no such such post office as Synden, the manuscript "try Lynden" was added by post office staff, Clifton and Lynden were about 50 miles apart on the Great Western Railway, Clifton had earlier been Suspension Bridge and later became Niagara Falls; ex-Dale-Lichtenstein. #15, 1859 5c Vermilion, single affixed partly over a clear strike of red oval "Legislative/Canada/Assembly" handstamp and tied by "Ottawa, C.W./Jan 12, 66" Berri duplex postmark to cover to Goderich, backstamped the next day at Goderich, portion of backflap missing, very fine; this Legislative Assembly handstamp was in use for only a year and this is one of only three strikes recorded on cover, (Image)

#15, 1859 5c Vermilion, well centered single with intense color, couple pulled perfs. at bottom left, tied by unofficial mutilated Toronto bar duplex cancel dated Nov. 26, 1866 on cover to Bond Head, backstamped the next day, fresh and very fine; this postmark was only in use from 24 August, 1866 to 1 April, 1867 and this is one of only two known examples.
