Majority are fine, 4 margin examples inc. 1858 1 dinero blue (shade); 1858-59 1 peseta vermilion; 1860 1 peseta red, etc.; 1 peseta rose (SG 11) in vertical strip of 4 cancelled "CATARCA", a fine item with clear frame lines all round, RPSL Cert. (1972). Later 1862-66 embossed frame types inc. 1863 (Jan.) 1 peseta brown, 1872 1 peseta orange-yellow, etc., and a group of 1868 1 dinero green (shades) inc. mint pair plus 2 used and 1 mint example of the 1871 Railway Anniv. 5c red (shades) - considered to be the World's first commemorative stamp. EARLY STAMPED COVER COLLECTION: 1859-72 range of covers, all but one with various imperf. frankings. Incs. May 1859 wrapper from Arica to Lima bearing 1 peseta rose (SG 11), Feb. 1861 wrapper from Chincha to Lima franked with 2 x 1 dinero blue (shade, SG 8); 1864-66 trio of ELs to Cochabamba, Bolivia each bearing 1 dinero pale vermilion or pink (SG 14/15), the pink franking being a superb postal forgery. Also a group of four 1871-72 covers to Bolivia each with single frankings of 1868 1 dinero green (shades). Attractive, clean group. (10 covers) (Image)
