LITERATURE: 'The Postage Stamps Etc. of the Fiji Islands' by Charles J. Phillips (1908), 116pp and 15 photogravure plates, original paper binding that has split in places but the pages & plates are very fine. Rebinding recommended for this classic text by the then proprietor of Stanley Gibbons.
LITERATURE: 'Compendious Grammar of the Feejeean Language with Examples of Native Idioms' by the Reverend David Hazlewood (1850), 12pp octavo bound with thread in non-contemporary paper cover (which has a fault at the back). Rare: published at the Wesleyan Mission Press at Vewa and considered one of the most important early works published in the Islands. [This is the first 12pp of 72. A complete copy in non-contemporary case-binding with Hazlewood's Feejeean-English Dictionary is currently available online for US$2500. The seller records eight other copies, all in major institutions including the British Library, the Bodleian Library and at Cambridge University. There is also a copy in the National Library in Canberra]
