image RARE EYEWITNESS ACCOUNT OF THE PENINSULAR WAR; 29 Sep. 1810 EL (small faults) to England endorsed 'Bombardier Christopher Jackson R.A' at top and endorsed at left by the Commanding Officer, Captain R.H.Birch RA. Front with "EXMOUTH" h.s. and rated 'P 1' (Paid 1d military concession rate). Fascinating content We are no hopes of laving [sic] Spane at present we keep fighting with the French as not as ever the French is lying in different directions all round us and we keep playing upon them our batres and them upon us.....I had charge of a 24 pounder and I had 6 men to worke it and we fired out of the gun 158 rounds..........Authentic contemporary reporting during the French siege of Cadiz.
