1840/52: The collection of 'Tartar Post' postal relay forms (184), each form stuck on despatch and receipt with Type 1 Ottoman handstamp 'An Janib.' negative seal with wreath at base, each form detailing route times and amount of post carried, with negative handstamps from Adana up to Vidin, a rare selection in good condition, housed in a box. Liannos Private Post, Postage Dues 1866: (20 pa.) black on rose-pink paper, faded, 3rd printing (with horizontal line between 'Taxe Ext: and Taxe Int:' - the semo-colons only found are in positions 21 to 24 on the sheet, a used example of the Postage Due label with manuscript '2.20' in ink for Postage from Egypt amount and printed 20 pa. for local due with total in manuscript '3' piastres charge, cancelled by oval "Galata" datestamp in black (June 15, 1866). Liannos Private Post 1865/67: The collection on leaves with Proof pair of 5 pa. in black, 5 pa. black on blue imperf. block of six and three 5 pa. mis-perforated varieties, 20 pa. black on green imperf. blocks of four and of eight from different printings, 40 pa. on rose with striking paper-fold variety unused and mis-perf. varieties, many loose perf. values of the issue incl. some multiples, range of cancellations on the issue with rhomboid of dots (5), oval datestamps of Arnaud-Kioyi, Buyuk Dere, Buyuk Ada, Galata, Kacak, Pera, Scutari on adhesives; Printed Matter circular cancellations "Journaux en Franchise" in blue on white, in black on white paper and on blued; and a December 1866 5 pa. black on blued tied to large part of Omonoia newspaper by oval "Galata" datestamp (Dec 2, 1866) in black, cert. Holcombe (1990). Somewhat messily presented but a fine and most interesting lot (hundreds).
