1914-15 6mm Spacing '1d.' on 5pf green (rounded corner) & '2d.' on 20pf blue SG 16 & 19 + 'O.S.' '1d.' on 3pf brown SG O1 - the last with straight-line 'Rabaul' h/s in blue, all hinged to a small piece & tied by Rabaul cds of 22SE15, Cat £195+. A curious conversation-starter.
1914-15 5mm Spacing '2d.' on 20pf blue SG 19 two examples being [Stg 4 Pos 8] & [Stg 2 Pos 5], both well centred, tied to piece by oval Rabaul d/s, Cat £140+. [Robert Gibbs at page 30 states that Stg 4 is "rare on 5mm stamps" & he didn't record this setting on the '2d.' on 20pf]

SG 51e being the central unit in a horizontal strip of 3 [Stg 3 Pos 7-9] from the base of the sheet with the complete 'Marshall-Inseln' imprint, well centred, perf separation/reinforcing between the first two units, faint aging, Cat £460+. Ex 'Ello' (Erich Schlieper): sold at our auction of 14.3.2009 for $315.

1914 5mm Spacing on Marshall Islands '1d.' on 10pf red SG 52 fragile block of 5 (2x3, missing the last unit) [Stg 2 Pos 4-5] showing Progressive Shift of the Overprint to the Right from Top to Base, well centred, the last unit creased, unmounted, Cat £135++ for mounted singles. An unusual specialist piece.
POSTMARKS: '2d.' on 20pf with part-strike of the defaced Friedrich-Wilhelmshafen court seal; 'O.S.' Very scarce. [It has been speculated that this & other similar cachets were applied as some form of control mark]
1901 Yachts 3pf to 5mk Mi 7-19 (SG 7-19), the 3mk & 5mk - exceptional centring & superb - on small pieces, minor defects on the four low values, postmarks of various towns, the 1mk to 5mk each with 'PFENNINGER' guarantee h/s on the reverse, Cat €1000 (€1100).

POSTAL HISTORY: 1914 plain postcard with 'FELD.../nur für die Wehrabteilung und/für die Expeditionstruppe' handstamp & large-part very fine strike of the Rabaul mailbag seal both in violet, a bit knocked-about with overall soiling, minor bends & a heavy central fold that has been reinforced, unused. [When War was declared, no suitable military stationery was available so this provisional expedient was resorted to. This card appears to have folded to fit in a soldier's breast-pocket. Tim Rybak's very fine example sold at our auction of 26.4.2008 for $604]
POSTMARKS: 'STEPHANSORT/2 4/97' on 2mk carmine rejoined pair (Cat €1000+), plus a modest range of other cds including large-part 'NAMATANAI' & '.../SEEPOST/AUSTRALIASCHE/HAUPTLINIE/ b ' cds on piece, Yacht values to 80pf x2; also 'DEUTSCHE SEEPOST/NEU-/GUINEA-/...' forgery on contrived Russo-Japanese War propaganda PPC to NSW.
