image Malta 1856: 1d. rose-red single, lettered KF and 1858 2d. blue, plate 7, lettered BL and 1855 6d. in pale lilac, on 1862 cover from Malta to Naples. The stamps are tied by two strikes of the Malta C/A25 duplex cancel dated MY 21 1859. On landing in Italy the letter was charged 40 cts. A fine and rare cover. Cert. Holcombe. image Malta 1857: 1d. rose-red single and strip of 3, lettered TF and SD/SF and 1856 6d. pair in pale lilac, on 1862 cover from Malta to Livorno. The stamps are tied by three strikes of the Malta B duplex cancel. There are some traces of ageing, but nonetheless this very early cover is very attractive and rare. Signed Emilio Diena.
