Emphasis is on varieties and unusual postmarks incl. ½d green mint var. inverted wmk. (only 480 printed) SG 20w (£170). Three used examples of the "PNNEY" error, one in a marginal block of four on a 1913 Regd. piece (see accompanying notes). image RARE 1928 "POSTAGE PAID" HANDSTAMP: Newspaper wrapper addressed locally, cancelled by intaglio handstamp in black "MALTA/POSTAGE PAID/[OVAL]/¼d" believed to have been in use for just 4 weeks during early 1928, rare thus. Postman's delivery handstamp "43" on reverse. Lot also includes a similar example but with the handstamp having a circular centre, rather than oval, in use 1924-25, with 2 strikes of the Postman's delivery handstamp "32" on reverse. Tone spots.
