1846, Zante to Boston, United States, stampless folded letter, with extensive contents, datelined 14 March, struck with black oval P.F./2/- partially overlapping MALTA PAID double split-ring (MR 17), choice strike of ornate blue oval “Received and Forwarded / P Eynaud & Co” forwarding agent marking, oval Liverpool transit and London PAID c.d.s. (MR 26), endorsed “via Marseilles” at lower left, red SHIP / 6 transatlantic rate marking, likely carried from Zante to Malta on board the H.M.S. Volcano and thence to Marseille by the H.M.S. Locust sensible slight adhesive repairs to contents, a visually-appealing cover and a choice strike of this forwarding agent marking.
