Venetian Shipmail 1709/85: Group of five entire ship letters from Corfu to Venice, incl. two letters addressed to Nicolo Caragiari of which one endorsed "con Nave Inglese" (1718) together with a group of three letters to Paolo Filli, incl. captain's letter written in Italian endorsed "con Cap. 1860 (March 23): Prepaid Entire letter from Cefalonia to Lefkada / Santa Maura bearing 1859 (June) ½ d. orange and 1 d. blue, both with three large to full margins and just touched on the fourth, tied with the typical black pen cross of Cefalonia. Hooded KEFFALENIA scroll datestamp in blue alongside, reverse with hooded "Sta MAURA" arrival datestamp in blue (March 28, 1860) alongside. ½ d. adhesive oxidised and a vertical fold, nevertheless a rare combination franking. 1859 (July 9): Prepaid Entire letter from Cefalonia via Ithaka to Corfu bearing 1859 (June) 1 d. blue, a fresh stamp with three good to huge margins, touched at right, cancelled with black pen cross. Hooded KEFFALENIA scroll datestamp in black, crisp ITHAKI transit cds in blue (July 10) and CORFU arrival cds in black (28 LUG 59) alongside. Despite the fault to the adhesive and a vertical fold, a rare stamp on letter and in addition an early usage of this adhesive. Cert. A. Diena (1969) Gi = £ 300 off cover.
