image British Black River Colony 1763 (Nov 5): Entire letter written from and dated at "Black River, Mosquito Shore, Gun Powder Plot, 1763", mailed to Thomas Symons in Bristol with manuscript "Rec'd and Forwarded 14th April 1764 by yr. humb. servt. B. Campbell" in London. The letter is from the area East of Trujillo and the San Juan River, colonised by British loggers and pirates from 1699. In 1763 (the year of this letter) as a result of the Treaty of Paris Spain was given this coastline but the predominantly British occupants forced the Spanish out in 1779.rnA fascinating letter from an obscure facet of British Central American postal history.
