image Greek Naval Occupation of Dedeagatch 1913 (July 24/Aug. 6g): The second provisional issue, the collection with the set of five values complete in unused blocks of eight (the overprinted forme was designed thus and therefore the stamps can be plated and these are the sole set of complete sheets recorded by the late Earl Galitz), a further pair of 25 l. on 5 l. unused, and three rare covers: 5 l. on 1 st. in a strip of four used to a Greek Naval officer on board ship, tied by "Dedeagatch" straight line in red; single 10 l. on cover to Athens tied by Dedeagatch cds (July 28) on first day of use of the datestamp*, and a single franking of the 25 l. on 5 st. black & green; together with two postcards bearing Greek frankings. A rare group (11 items) Mi = € 2'400+. *Note: W. Libermann & G. image Greek Naval Occupation of Dedeagatch 1913 (Sept. 15/Sept. 28g): The third provisional issue: 50 l. blue (two examples), perf. 11½, used on reverse of 1913 cover to Pera, Constantinople and cancelled by straight line "Dedeagatch" in Greek in red (repeated strike on obverse); one stamp showing the blue anchor Control handstamp. The 1 drachma franking is overpaid but the Postmaster in Athens (Sept. 24) applied four litho 25 l. ultramarine over the original franking as, whilst the Dedeagatch franking was legitimate it would not be recognised upon arrival in Pera. "British Post Office / Constantinople" cds also at right (Nov. 10) in black. Imperfections but a most unusual cover. (Image 1) (Image 2) (Image)
