Watkins to London (in copper-plate writing hand); rated 8d. for ½ ounce rate, struck on reverse with framed ´HASTINGS / SHIP LETTER´ in black (Robertson S3) and London cds of arrival in red April 14. A fine and rare entire, unlisted by Sacher.
Interesting content describing the journey South on the ´Medora´ and the storms in the Bay of Biscay and being becalmed at Cape Verde, meeting Mr. Brooking who had just returned from Kumasi. ´T. B. Freeman has been some time absent from home on a visit to Badagry. (Image1)
