image AITUTAKI: 1920 Pictorials 3d black & blue Palmtree SG 27 lower-left corner block of 6 (3x2) Imperforate at Base, the central units with minor gum blemishes otherwise unmounted. A rare positional piece. Ex J Edgar Williams. [Sir Gawaine Baillie's lower-left corner block of 10 sold in 2007 for £552. However, with an estimate of only £150, Sotheby's implied it was an unissued variety from the same source as the imperf proof sheets. The New Zealand Handbook Volume V at page 375 makes clear this error occurred in the issued stamps: "At least one sheet of the 3d value missed the last strike of the comb machine, resulting in the stamps in the bottom row being imperf at the bottom [sic]". The Baillie result clearly impacted the sale of this block at the Prestige auction of 10.4.2010 for $1048]
