image POSTAL HISTORY: 1937 airmail cover to England with KGV Pictorials 50c pair tied 'COLOMBO/27NO/37' cds, carried on the ill-fated Imperial Airways Flying Boat 'Cygnus' which crashed on take-off at Brindisi (Italy) on 5.12.1937 killing 2 of the 13 passengers & crew, salvaged from the wreck and forwarded with British 'DAMAGED BY SEA-WAT[ER]' violet boxed h/s on face, a few blemishes as to be expected. Scarcer origin for Cygnus crash mail, enhanced by the stamps still being in place.
