1870s COVERS: Attractive Dec. 1872 small, mourning cover from Rio de Janeiro to Paris via Bordeaux. Franked with 200r Black 'Pedro' type and pair of 60r 'Snake eyes' tied by 'grid' type cork cancels. Boxed "P.D." mark in black alongside 2 Jan. 1873 "BRESIL/BORDEAUX" arrival mark in blue. Also 1871 internally mailed EL ex Rio bearing 2 x 100r Green, both cancelled by cork obliterators in blue.
