The incomparable collection of GRI Overprints formed by the Marquess of Bute was sold in London in 1959. It was noted that some of the albums were damaged as a result of the London Blitz when, on 24-25.9.1940, the bank in which the collection was secured was damaged by a direct hit by a German bomb. The discolouration of this stamp was caused by smoke from the resultant fire.
