image FALMOUTH - OVAL SHIP LETTER HANDSTAMP: 21 Jan. 1809 EL ex Philadelphia to London with oval type 2a "SHIP LETTER/(crown)/FALMOUTH" (applied upside down), rated "1/3" in manuscript & additionally inscribed "Ship Pacific". Note: The contents refer to the sale of land to repay a debt. It contains a copy of a communication on the same subject originally sent on 28th October 1808. According to the regulations an enclosure should have attracted double rate postage but the authorities appear to have been unaware of the additional contents.
