1864-1914 MIX - RARE COVER TO SLAVE, 1883 2c BROWN FRANKINGS, MACHINE CANCELS ETC. - inc. c1864 homemade env. to Samantha Jay - Servant/Care of Mrs Chas Jay/Evergreen, Alabama and franked Confederate States 10c Blue-Green imperf (defects at base) tied indistinct cds, remarkable and exceedingly rare cover to slave; 1883 2d brown range of frankings inc. 1884 Parcel tag used locally within Chicago with solo franking tied by Madison Street duplex and 1887 env. to Brownsville (CA) with Colusa (CA) cds (2 - two days apart) on front and s/l "Held for Postage" with marginal imprint 2c affixed (hinged on front); scarce 'flag' Acme trial/involute machine cancels on 1897/98 envs. (2); machine cancel group inc. 6 Jan 1890 "The Princeton Club of New York" 2c Green p.stat. env with fine strike of International Machine Company cancel type 'A-11 ()' with blank die space in killer section [only in use 4-6 Jan. 1890] and 1890 "Georgetown University" printed 1c p.stat env ex Washington with fine strike of same type cancel with "1" die inserted but date/time omitted from d.s.; and 1914 env ex Sweden to Illinois with 5c green postage due (2).
