VENICE-TRIESTE PAQUEBOT, "SANITA MARITTIMA" NOTICES, TUSCANY COVER, ETC: 1856-69 trio of covers incl. 1856 & 1857 pair of ELs to Trieste, each bearing Lombardy-Venetia 30c Brown cancelled by square "DA VENEZIA/COL VAPORE" marks. Also, 13 Aug. 1869 EL from Cospoli to Chiavari with v. fine 3 line h/s "LETTERE ARRIVATE/COL VAPORE/DAL LEVANTE". Backstamped Udine-Verona, Milano Staz. and Chiavara; pair of Official stampless letter sheets, both sent from Genoa to Venice by the Direzione Generale Della Sanita Marittima. Contents ref. Cholera, Lazarettos, etc. The earlier, 28 Jul. 1854 sheet bears the oval cachet "R.POSTE/DIREZIONE/DI/SANITA MARITTa/IN GENOVA" in green and has a 30 Jul. Venice arrival mark. The 7 Sep. 1857 sheet has the same cachet in black, but has travelled via Vienna, having Vienna 11 Sep. and Venice 13 Sep. arrival marks. Unusual. Also, 22 Jul. 1861 wrapper from Massa Marittima to Siena. Franked with pair of Tuscany 'Savoy Arms' type 5c Deep Green (SG 40). 23 Aug Siena arrival mark on reverse.
