LITZMANNSTADT GHETTO – ARBEITSEATZ Postcard from R.A.L. Lager (labor Camp) Lagowoer-see; postmarked Grunov,,-Stemberg, 20.10.41 and addressed to Ai15eitsein§alz (der Juden), LitzmannstadtGhetto. Boxed violet receiving cancel "Arbeitseinsatz" (work command}, red handstamped "Frei von Zuschlaggebuehr' (no additional postage required), as well as several handwritten notations. Message written in broken German by Jakob Grynsehpan, a forced Iaborer working in underground construction, pleads to the Ghetto authorities that his wife confined there get work in order to earn money, as she cannot get along at 6 RM a week allowance. Very fine "Postal History of the Holocaust" item. Two filing holes that do not detract. Mail items going into Ghetto (or KZ) are rare and desirable objects.

ROMANIAN POSTAL CARD from Natali Cremnitz Sr (Dr. Ebner's daughter), written 11.4.42 somehow delayed and cancelled about 5 weeks later. Pmkd Bucurest 13.5.42. Addressed to Dr. Ebner in Tel Aviv. Mss message in German: "I know that you are desperate regarding us ... and waiting for news ... we write through Lichtheim & Blum." Blum was their Turkish contact. Richard Llchlhelm was the leader of the Zionist Revisionist group in Germany, and?? (together the famed Gizi Fleishmen) a group of 326 Jews interned by the Nazis in Sosnowitk Csmp, who were later transferred to Cemp VYEINE in Slovakia. Lichtheim was the representative of the Jewish Agency in Geneva. Card has Romanian censor marking (for outgoing mail, circular "63" & Palestine censor hstmp all on front Center with fold, o/w F. scarce

WALTER REDER served in the SS; 7 covers and post cards to or from him while he was a prisoner at the GAETA POW camp in Italy; including one to HERBERT KAPPLER post war German POW, 1982 cover at ALSDORF camp in Germany. Both were convicted war criminals involved with the murder of Italian citizens. The Nazi war criminal lot should be great for a Holocaust collection. One never sees this kind of material offered for sale. The murdered Italian civilian hostages and were indicted for murder after the war in a well-publicized case.
