Malta 1935 #184 variety, stamps VF */**. Variety "Extra Flagstaff" story on the 1/2d. This variety of all, is the most famous and still attracts research. Most likely from the center printing plate originally by Bradbury Wilkinson. The printing plates were later taken over by Waterlow & then De La Rue. Once recognized, erasure of the flaw was begun. The single stamp illustrates the full-on variety. The blocks clearly illustrate the follow-on attempts at removing the error and show the progression, slowly reaching the final (bottom block) where it cannot be seen at all, but where one can still see the location of where the flaw was.
