1854 "Penny Black" Imperf 1d black SG 1 horizontal pair, margins clear to good except at the base where just touched, on piece with void-grid cancels & Maltese Cross 'PERTH/15JA15/1858' d/s alongside, minor aging, Cat £700+.
1854 "Penny Black" Imperf 1d black SG 1 with Major Re-Entry 'Double-Tailed Swan', margins just clear - at the base - to large with a fragment of the adjoining unit above, light void-grid cancel clear of the variety, Cat £350++. [Considering how many transfer varieties of the 4d are listed, we believe this major variety on an engraved First Issue stamp deserves to be listed by Gibbons]
1854 "Penny Black" Rouletted about 12-13 1d black SG 2, rouletting on all sides, 15-bar '2' cancel of Perth, Cat £850. Chris Ceremuga Certificate (2022) states "genuine in all respects...rare".
1854 "Penny Black" Rouletted 1d black SG 2, rouletted 12 on all sides and, remarkably, clear of the design on all sides, 15-bar '2' cancel of Perth, Cat £850. A gem! Chris Ceremuga Certificate (2011) states "Rare. Superb example."
1854-55 Lithographs Imperf 4d pale blue SG 3 block of 4 [69-70/89-90], margins close to large, the first unit with Spear in Swan's Breast, ironed-out vertical fold between the units in no way detracts from the very fine facial appearance, unused, Cat £1500++. Ex Lord Vestey: sold in 2015 for £2160. BPA Certificate (2007) frustratingly refers to "diagonal paper crease at upper-left", which is imperceptible.
1854-55 Lithographs Imperf 4d blue SG 3a, margins good to large, central void grid cancel in red, Cat £250+. Stunning! Ex Trevor Hiscock: sold at our auction of 22.2.2013 for $870. RPSofV Certificate (2012).
1854-55 Lithographs Imperf 4d pale blue with Major Transfer Variety 'Tilted Border' SG 3i, margins just clear - at U/R - to large, 15-bar '6' cancel of Albany clear of the 'OS' of 'POSTAGE', Cat £1600. RPSofV Certificate (2015). The Key identifier of this variety is the white arcs below 'OS' of 'Postage'.
1854-55 Lithographs Imperf 1/- deep red-brown SG 4a marginal example from the left of the sheet with vertical watermark lines at left, margins close to huge, unused, Cat £2000. Chris Ceremuga Certificate (2004) states "rare shade".
1854-55 Lithographs Rouletted 7½-14 4d pale blue SG 5 rouletted clear of the design on all sides except at L/L, unusually cancelled with 'PERTH/OC26/1864' datehead from a duplex, Cat £700. Rare & underrated.
1854-55 Lithographs Pin-Perforated 17 4d deep dull blue, pin-perf on all sides (a bit irregular at L/R), 15-bar '18' of Bunbury in blue as always. Unlisted by Gibbons: see the first footnote below SG 6. Chris Ceremuga Certificate (2022) states "genuine in all respects...very deep shade, probably from litho stone 1, 1st printing. Extremely rare with only several recorded". [As noted on the certificate, the 'deep dull blue' stamps are from the first printing, so should be listed by Gibbons as SG 3, not 3b. It's also long overdue for the pin-perforated stamps to be properly catalogued. Cecil Walkley's example of exceptional appearance but with a minor thin sold at our auction of 14.4.2005 for $875]
1857-59 Hillman Lithographs Imperf 2d brown-black/red SG 15, margins just touching - at the sides - to good, tiny imperceptible tear at the base in no way detracts from the very fine facial appearance, unused, Cat £9500. A larger-than-average example of this rare stamp, most examples of which are impacted by the transfers being laid-down too close to each other.
1857-59 Hillman Lithographs Imperf 2d brown-black/red Printed on Both Sides SG 15a with the impression on the 'reverse' upright relative to the face but significantly misplaced, margins close to large with a fragment of the adjoining unit at left, tiny inkstain makes the lower-left corner appear to be missing, light void-grid cancellation, Cat £900. Ex Michael Haden: sold at our auction of 18.12.2010 for $442. Enzo Diena Certificate (1987) states (translated) "in perfect condition".
1857-59 Hillman Lithographs Rouletted 12-13 2d brown-black/red SG 20 from the base of the sheet with horizontal marginal watermark lines, rouletting on all sides & clear of the design except at the base where the design is just touched, exceptional centring, 15-bar '1' cancel of Perth, Cat £2000. Superb! Chris Ceremuga Certificate (2022) states "genuine in all respects...very rare...superb example..."
1860-64 Recess in the Colony Rouletted 12 6d sage-green SG 32, rouletting clear of the design on all sides, tiny tear at the top, very light numeral cancel, Cat £750. Chris Ceremuga Certificate (2022) states "genuine in all respects...rare in this rouletting gauge"
1861 Printed by Perkins Bacon Very Rough Perf 14-16 6d purple/blued paper SG 45, 15-bar '1' cancel of Perth, Cat £550. Simon Dunkerley Certificate (2008).
1884-85 Surcharges '1d.' with Curved Upper Serif on 3d cinnamon SG 91a complete upper pane of 60 (10x6) with wing-margins at the base & the external margins removed, the last row all with Flat Upper Serif on Skinny '1' resulting in ten se-tenant vertical pairs SG 91b, a few characteristic minor gumbends & the last unit with a few short perfs at the base, very fresh with full unmounted o.g., Cat £7900++ for mounted singles & setenant pairs. Ex Dr Cecil Walkley (2007) & Trevor Hiscock: sold at our auction of 8.11.2013 for $1630.

A desirable multiple of this striking error. [Gary Diffen had only a vertical pair, with the first impressions underinked. On this block, all the impressions are of similar intensity]
1898-1907 W[crown]A Wmk 2d die proof in black on surfaced card (surface creasing) reduced to a little larger than stamp size & affixed to a piece from De La Rue's day-book, endorsed "Aug 25/240 leads" and, in red, "Oct 4th 1897/Repeat plate/No2". Rare. Ex Cecil Walkley and Trevor Hiscock: sold at our auction of 22.2.2013 for $535.

Rare: only a few have been recorded. Ex Trevor Hiscock: sold at our auction of 22.2.2013 for $1515. [Although the 6d was proofed in 1896 and printed in 1897, the entire printing was held in reserve until October 1906, making this a Commonwealth-period issue. Dr Cecil Walkley's superb example sold at our auction of 14.4.2005 for $2530]
