PLATE PROOFS: 2d imperforate single in deep blue on ungummed unwatermarked paper, margins very close but virtually complete, small thin at upper-left. Acquired at our auction of 11.5.2012 for $670. Chris Ceremuga Certificate (2009) states "probably one sheet printed". In fact, only 20 units were excised from the sheet, and most of those have faults.
PLATE PROOFS: 1/- imperforate horizontal pair in deep green on ungummed watermarked paper from the imprimatur sheet, margins good to large. Superb & gorgeous. Sold at our auction of 11.5.2012 for $2330, where it was described as "unwatermarked".
INTERMEDIATE PERF 14-16: 4d vermilion SG 35, a little soiled, unused, Cat £1900. An underrated stamp: Mogens Juhl estimated only about 40 unused examples exist. Lord Vestey's five unused examples sold for an average of £910.
INTERMEDIATE PERF 14-16: 6d purple-brown SG 36, excellent colour, unused, Cat £1100. Almost the equal of Lord Vestey's best unused example, that sold for £1140.
INTERMEDIATE PERF 14-16: 1/- yellow-green SG 36, well centred for this issue, a little aged, unused, Cat £2000. More attractive than Lord Vestey's only example (with part o.g.), that sold for £1440.
PERF 14 at SOMERSET HOUSE: 1d dull rose (a little aged), 2d blue (misplaced vertical perfs) & 4d vermilion (much better centred than usual, and very fine) SG 38-40, unused, Cat £1000. (3)
CLEAN-CUT PERF 14-16: 2d blue SG 41 marginal block of 4 from the right of the sheet with part 'POST[AGE...]' watermark in the margin, part o.g., Cat £480+, for unused singles. Ex Dibiase: sold for $525.
CLEAN-CUT PERF 14-16: 6d brown-purple (not 'purple-brown', as listed by Gibbons) SG 42, very well centred & cut from the sheet at right, unused, Cat £550.
CLEAN-CUT PERF 14-16: 1/- green (not 'yellow-green', as listed by Gibbons) with the Watermark Upright Inverted SG 43a, very well centred, unused, Cat £1400. Lord Vestey's example with part-o.g. sold for £1020.
