COVER TO G.B.; 15 April 1854 EL from "San Francisco" to London having a very fine rare Liverpool Handstruck "1/2½" on the front matching the very fine rare Liverpool oval "AMERICA" d.s. (20 May) on the flap, but also having a very fine rare Liverpool "ART-5/BR. PKT" mark (across the join; just clear of a small closed seal-tear and very slightly overstruck by a red London cds) also on the reverse. This ART-5/BR. PKT. mark (used for US West Coast mails and for some West Indies mails only) is seldom seen.
