image Yangtze River Patrol Cover Collection, 1850-1941, approximately 125 Asiatic Service related covers in large binder; 1850 stampless letter from Relief in Rio addressed to New York, Chinese Imperial Post franking on 1903 USS Villalobos Gunboat #42 which inaugurated the Yangtze River Patrol, 1916 Asiatic Fleet stationery from USS Brooklyn based in Shanghai concerning promotion, group of 18 letters with envelopes (Shanghai cancels) and many photos/negatives from a US naval officer patrolling the Yangtze River in a gun boat 1916-17; Good content concerning severed diplomatic relations with Germany and much about the Chinese; dozens of ships presented up through 1941; Penalty envelope with corner card which reads, "Navy Department Commander Yangtze Patrol US Asiatic Fleet USS Luzon (Flagship)"; envelope from the USS Luzon at Hankow addressed to the Captain of the USS Pennsylvania based at Pearl Harbor; unusual incoming mail to USS Monocacy while in Yokahama Japan; 70c trans-Pacific rate (overpaid 5c) on USS Oahu with "Yangtze Patrol" in the killer bars; corner cards from Yangtze Patrol Force USS Pigeon, USS Penguin and USS Peary; the makings of an important Postal History exhibit.
