1939 (July 12), Philatelic Truck cover from Bridgeport, CT, an oversized envelope bearing a Philatelic Truck sheet (angled cut at bottom, most likely off the roll) and a 3¢ Baseball Centennial (#855), both tied by two strikes of a violet double-circle Bridgeport Parcel Post cancel; backflap tucked into the envelope, which shows some wrinkling to the right (away from the sheet and stamp) and some light toning or soiling; still an interesting and uncommon usage, F.-V.F. Suggested Bid $200
The Philatelic Truck began its grand tour at the White House on May 9, 1939. Following a three-day visit to Philadelphia, the Truck continued to New York City, where it remained until July 4 (including 23 days at the World's Fair). From New York, the Truck traveled to Connecticut, and then through New England. A potential First Day in Bridgeport cover. (Image)
