CONVICT DEPARTMENT: Black 'C.' on DLR Crown/SA Rouletted 2d orange, professional repairs at U/L & L/R corners, superb Receiving House numeral '6' cancel originally allocated to Redruth. Rated RR. Chris Ceremuga Certificate (2002). [Campbell & Pearce state the '6' canceller was returned to the GPO in 1867 - before Departmentals were issued - perhaps being applied to mail that arrived in Adelaide uncancelled. We suggest that the numeral was reallocated to the Gaol. Fine examples have sold for up to $575]
CROWN LANDS: Red 'C.L.' on Rouletted 2d vermilion with Pre-Printing Paper-Fold at L/R and the Overprint Misplaced to L/R, a little aged, GPO cds of OC5/68. Rated RRR+.
CROWN LANDS: Red 'C.L.' on Rouletted 2d vermilion, neat GPO cds of JU9/68. Superb! Rated RRR. [The 'Novocastrian' example on piece sold at the Prestige auction of 20.11.2004 for $483]
CROWN LANDS: Blue 'C.L.' on Star Rouletted 4d dull purple, roulettes trimmed except at the base, GPO cds of JY19/69. Rated RRRRRR, but we have recorded three other examples, one of which - with minor tonespots - sold at the Prestige auction of 14.4.2005 for $2645. Ex Houston Wynn. RPSofV Certificate (1991).
CROWN LANDS: Blue 'C.L.' on Rouletted 6d dull blue, an enormous stamp cut from the sheet to preserve the design, a little aged, GPO cds of FE14/70. Rated RRRRRR, but we have again recorded three other examples. The 'Sir Humphrey' (Brian Farmer) example sold for $1495. Ex Houston Wynn. RPSofL Certificate (1991).
CROWN LANDS: Black 'C.L.' on Perf 11½-12½ 1/- red-brown, GPO cds of FE20/75, being almost 9 months after the Departmentals were generally withdrawn on 30.6.1874. Rated RRRRRR: listed but not seen by Ron Butler. RPSofV Certificate (2019). [Our vendor notes this stamp is Ex Rev James Mursell - from a mixed lot - and that JRW Purves believed it was genuine]
