Henry Cabot Lodge, Republican U.S. senator for more than 31 years (1893-1924) and chairman of the Committee on Foreign Relations; he led the successful congressional opposition to the country's participation in the League of Nations following World War I, Lodge's own efforts in the Senate ensured that the United States could not join the League, undermining its effectiveness and legitimacy. Great content Typewritten Letter Signed "H.C. Lodge" as Senator from MA and Chair of the Committee on Foreign Relations, on committee stationery, Washington, 10/20/1919, he tells a constituent that the newly formed League of Nations "in its present form is full of serious dangers, not only to the cause of peace, but to the rights and interests of the American people…" Folds, otherwise choice. With original envelope bearing printed frank postmarked Oct 24, 1919.

Andrew William Mellon, sometimes A.W., was an American banker, businessman, industrialist, philanthropist, art collector, and politician from the wealthy Mellon family of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, he established a vast business empire before transitioning into politics where he served as United States Secretary of the Treasury from March 9, 1921, to February 12, 1932, presiding over the boom years of the 1920s and the Wall Street crash of 1929. Nelson Aldrich Rockefeller (July 8, 1908 - January 26, 1979) was an American businessman and politician who served as the 41st vice president of the United States from 1974 to 1977, and previously as the 49th governor of New York from 1959 to 1973. Fiorello Henry La Guardia was an American politician. He is best known for being the 99th Mayor of New York City for three terms from 1934 to 1945 as a pro-New Deal liberal progressive Republican, previously he had been elected to Congress in 1916 and 1918, and again from 1922 through 1930.
