1852, 3¢ dull red, type I (Scott 11 var), position 97R6, a lovely item, the stamp (oxidized) nicely margined and with unlisted plate flaw on neck (two thick horizontal gashes), fully tied by "Bradford/Dec/2/Va." postmark in blue to a surprisingly clean straw-colored envelope addressed to Oxford, OH; "Father Dec 1856" docketed in pencil at left; backflap (torn on opening) bears the penned note "F. Paule starts/for Cal today/Julia at/Sacrameno [sic]", Very Fine, a handsome cover with an exciting plate flaw, with 2020 P.F. certificate as #11, noting the plate flaw. (Image)
