1896 First German South Pole Expedition 1901/03. Letter written by privy councillor Neumayer (Deutsche Seewarte, Hamburg) to the Commission for South Polar Research to raise funds for a German South Pole expedition, which was then carried out from 1901. A very early letter that was a trigger to then actually carry out the expedition. UNIQUE. ÷ 1896. Erste Deutsche Südpol-Expedition 1901/03. Brief geschrieben von Geheimrath Neumayer (Deutsche Seewarte, Hamburg) an die Kommision für Südpolarforschung zur Beschaffung von Geldmitteln für eine deutsche Südpolarexpedition, die dann ab 1901 durchgeführt wurde. 1898 German Deep Sea Expedition. Wrapper 13.10.1898 with 10pf franking and ship's postmark of SMS Habicht No. 9. Addressed to expedition participant Dr. Apstein after the research vessel VALDIVIA had already left the port of 'Victoria' (Cameroon) on 25.9.1898. Redirected via the court post office 'Berlin' and via 'Hamburg' to PADANG (Sumatra) with the rare one liners 'faire suivre' and 'care of German consulate' and the transit cancels 'Batavia' and 'Weltevreden'. In Padang very probably delivered to Dr. Apstein. The VALDIVIA at this time penetrated farthest south into Antarctic waters, rediscovered 'Bouvet Island' and docked at Padang coming from Antarctica on 22.1.1899. UNICAT - exceptional cover with rarest postal way. ÷ 1898. Deutsche Tiefsee Expedition. Streifband 13.10.1898 mit 10 Pfennigfrankatur und Schiffspoststempel von SMS Habicht Nr. 9. Adressiert an Expeditionsteilnehmer Dr. Apstein nachdem das Forschungsschiff VALDIVIA den Hafen von 'Viktoria' (Kamerun) am 25.9.1898 schon verlassen hatte. Über das Hofpostamt 'Berlin' via 'Hamburg' umgeleitet nach PADANG (Sumatra) mit den seltenen Zeilenstempeln 'faire suivre' und 'care of German consulate' und den Transitstempeln 'Batavia' und 'Weltevreden' und in Padang sehr wahrscheinlich an Dr. Apstein ausgeliefert. Die VALDIVIA drang zu diesem Zeitpunkt am weitesten in antarktische Gewässer nach Süden vor, entdeckte 'Bouvet Island' erneut und legte von der Antarktis kommend am 22.1.1899 in Padang an. The offer was not accepted - instead, the construction of the polar ship GAUSS was then commissioned. UNIQUE. ÷ 1898. Erste Deutsche Südpol-Expedition 1901/03. Brief geschrieben von Geheimrath Neumayer (Deutsche Seewarte, Hamburg) als Aktenvermerk für die Kommission für Südpolarforschung. Inhalt: Lindenberg von der Fa. Woltereck & Robinson, Hamburg, machte ein Angebot über Holzschiffe zum Einsatz für die 1. deutsche Südpolarexpedition (die dann ab 1901 durchgeführt wurde). Ein sehr frühes Schreiben. Dr. Koch (lecturer at the UNI Freiburg) was the leader of the supplementary expedition to Labrador and was supposed to establish meteorological stations in the mission stations Nain, Hebron, Zoar, Rama Okak and Hoffenthal of the Herrenhuter Brüdergemeinde on behalf of the German Polar Commission in order to close the measurement gap between Canada and Greenland! ÷ 1885. Erstes Internationales Polarjahr 1882/83. Englische Vordruck-Postkarte 1d 'Moravian Church and Mission Agency', gerichtet an Dr. Neumayer (Deutsche Polarkommission), betreffs nach Deutschland gesandte Artikel und verspätet eingetroffene 3 Rollen des Dr. Koch, die noch nach Deutschland gesandt werden. Dr. Koch (Dozent an der UNI Freiburg) war der Leiter der supplementären Expedition nach Labrador und sollte im Auftrag der Deutschen Polarkommission in den Missionsstationen Nain, Hebron, Zoar, Rama Okak und Hoffenthal der Herrenhuter Brüdergemeinde meteorologische Stationen errichten, um die Messlücke zwischen Kanada und Grönland zu schließen! 1923, German Reich. Preprint form postcard 'Bayerische Landesbühne' (logo) with INFLA bulk franking (over 130 stamps) from 'Heidelberg 31.8.23' to Heinrich Karl Strohm in Neubiberg (near Munich). Strohm (1895-1959) was a well-known German theater and opera director. In 1939, for example, he directed the 'Salzburg Festival', and during the 5th 'Reichstheaterwoche' he was appointed general director of the Vienna State Opera as successor to Erwin Kerber. Lots of text! An exceptional item and a unique document of the times! ÷ 1923, Deutsches Reich. Vordruckpostkarte 'Bayerische Landesbühne' (Logo) mit INFLA-Massenfrankatur (über 130 Marken) aus 'Heidelberg 31.8.23' an Heinrich Karl Strohm in Neubiberg (bei München). Strohm (1895-1959) war ein bekannter deutscher Theater- und Opernregisseur. So leitete er 1939 die Salzburger Festspiele und wurde während der 5.
