The only recorded Tamsui Customs Mail Matter cover sent overseas.

Believed to be only one of four recorded covers with the Tamsui Customs Mail Matter marking.

Two of these covers are 1894 (July 13 & Sept. 2) "On Service" printed envelopes to the Statistical Department of Customs at Shanghai via Amoy.

In his classic work, The Postal Marks of the Ching Dynasty (Beijing, 1984), Suen Jun Yi records the existence of this Customs Mail Matter marking on an 1894 registered cover bearing Small Dragons and an 1895 (June 25) cover. However, the whereabouts of these two covers are not known.

In addition, this is one of the only instances where the foreign stamps paying the U.P.U. overseas rate have not been applied directly over the Peking Inspectorate General of Customs Mail Matter handstamp.
