1896 (Sept. 11) envelope from Chungking to Hannover, Germany, showing on reverse "Chungking Customs/Mail Matter" oval handstamp in red and bold "Customs/Chungking" oval datestamp in black brown, faint part strikes of "Ichang Customs/Mail Matter" oval handstamp and matching "Customs/Ichang" datestamp, and "Customs/Shanghai" double-ring transit datestamp (9.24), and bearing on front France "Chine" 10c. and 40c., canceled by "Shang-hai/Chine" c.d.s.(9.26), with "Ligne N/Paq. Fr. No. 6" c.d.s. (9.26) and "Hannover" arrival c.d.s. also on reverse, light age spotting, Fine to Very Fine usage with a combination of Customs Mail Matter handstamps from two different offices.
According to our records, there are only six covers known with the Chungking Customs Mail Matter handstamp.

1897 (Mar. 2) "Customs Memorandum", showing strikes of all the postal and instructional markings in use at the Chungking Post Office, including "Chungking Customs/Mail Matter" oval handstamp in red, creasing or wrinkling, the markings are Very Fine to Extremely Fine, an outstanding document.
