image Official Mail. 1804 "On His Majesties Service" entire letter (two letters dated 5 and 24 Dec.), headed "Bacchante Port Antonio," to "Sir John Duckworth, Commander in Chief, Kingston", rated "1/3" Currency for a triple letter carried up to 60 miles and showing, on reverse, the latest recorded date of the "port antonio/ja" T3 handstamp. Note: The enclosure relates to a fatal accident when a shot was fired to hurry the convoy vessel "Britannia" , Mathew Larvey, Master, killing one of the merchant ships crew. The writer, Captain Dashwood, also sends a personal letter of regret and explanation to Vice Admiral Duckworth, whose support he had previously enjoyed (Image1)
