image 1859 large-part entire to Scotland with Adelaide Printing 6d slate-blue SG 10 (margins just shaved - at right - to huge with fragments of adjoining units below & at left, affected by a very light ironed-out filing fold) tied by superb dumb small circle-in-bars cancel, 'PAID/JA14/1859/=ADELAIDE-S.A.=' cds in blue & very fine 'P M/ EDINBURGH/AP1/59' arrival b/s. A very scarce franking. Ex Michael Blake. [The letter headed "Govt Free School/Adelaide" & signed "John Forsyth" who requests a loan, stating that interest "is at a high rate in this Province 12½[%] on £1000, 15 on £300, & 20 to 25 upon smaller sums. To borrow at such a rate is useless..." John & Elizabeth Forsyth arrived at Adelaide on 23.1.1849 per "Derwent". He taught first at Nairne, then in Adelaide. He was declared insolvent in 1860]

BPA Certificate (1993) as the then SG 169var, plus a letter from the editor of the Gibbons catalogues confirming that this stamp would be listed from the 1994 edition. [Far more attractive than the only other recorded example, which is poorly centred]
