Cat No: 141 with
SIX PENCE: 6d bright ultramarine SG 141 with regular compound perf 10x11½-12½ block of 4 with the central horizontal perfs misplaced & rectified with an additional Line of Perf 11½ thereby creating two irregular compound perf 11½-12½x11½-12½x10x11½-12½ units at the base, very fresh with large-part o.g. and the lower units are unmounted, Cat £600+++, for normal singles. An important and unlisted Mixed Perforations variant.
Only one other block of 4 and three pairs have been recorded, apparently all from the same sheet. Gary Diffen's similar block of 4 - all units mounted - sold for £1920.
ONE SHILLING: 1/- red-brown SG 142 with regular compound perf 10x11½-12½ on cover with printed 'Via Brindisi' at upper-left & on the flap 'FRANCIS CLARK & SONS/ADELAIDE' (affected by minor opening fault), to Somerset with 'SHIP MAIL ROOM/ S3 /JA31/85/ADELAIDE - S AUSTRALIA' duplex & superb 'BATH/MR9/85' arrival b/s. [The dates are definitely correct, making this the Earliest Recorded Usage for the 1/- by nine days]

TWO SHILLINGS: 2/- deep carmine horizontal pair Imperforate Between SG 144a, untidy 'SHIP MAIL ROOM' duplex, Cat £6500. Only four pairs have been recorded, one of which is in the Royal Collection. RPSofL Certificate (1958). The 'Besancon' (I)/Gary Diffen example - minor creasing - sold for £3600. [Gibbons state that the error is from the 'rose-carmine' printing, SG 145a. This is not correct: it is clear from the 'Besancon' and Diffen illustrations, and of the William Frazer pair, that all these items are printed in deep carmine]
