1863 (Oct 17) part-entire to Sydney with scarce franking of 1860-61 Rough Perf 6d deep green SG 17 tied by a light Rays cancel of 'CONDAMINE' (b/s), superb unframed 'BRISBANE/=QUEENSLAND=' transit & very fine unframed 'SHIP-LETTER/OC30/1860/=SYDNEY=' arrival b/s, minor blemishes. Not recorded in Ben Palmer's Census. [Condamine is a small town on the Western Downs, some 330km WNW of Brisbane. This is sheep & cattle country & the town's claim to fame is the invention of the Condamine Bell, a hollow metal contraption with a distinctive tone that assists in herd location. The writer states "...Mr Anderson...came in from the Warrego [River]..." Warrego is S of Cunnamulla & about 300km SW of Condamine]
