image Airmail, 1928, 5¢ Beacon, 4th Day (Scott C11), pair canceled Jul 28, 1928 at Middletown, Pa. on a cover with a rubberstamped cachet for Stultz Day in honor of Pennsylvania pilot Wilmer L. Stultz, addressed to Stutz, Mo. and backstamped Chicago, Kansas City and Stultz, Very Fine. Usages of the 5¢ Beacon between July 25 and August 1 are quite scarce.

A month earlier, on June 18, 1928, Wilmer L. Stultz and his co-pilot, Lou Gordon, flying the Fokker trimotor "Friendship", carried passenger Amelia Earhart across the Atlantic, making her the first female passenger to fly across the Atlantic.
