Argyll Etkin Ltd Sale: 50

PRESTAMP MAIL
1865-1903 First Government Issue, Perf 14, S.G. 1-
Sale No: 50
Lot No: 44
Symbol:
Cat No: Collection

image Ink recipes for the 1d and 2d stamps cut from the De La Rue ink recipe book, both bearing blocks of four De La Rue & Co dummy stamps in the adopted colours, also photostats of the ink recipes for the 3d and 6d stamps with De La Rue & Co dummy stamp blocks of four applied in the adopted colour. The De La Rue ink recipe book had recipes on both sides of the page, usually for differing countries; most pages therefore had the dummy stamps removed from one side and applied to photocopies of that page, as in this case. The 1d and 2d recipes have recipes for Jamaica stamps on the reverse (dummy stamps removed). The 2d recipe has an inscription showing the recipe was altered in April 1874. A unique group. (4).
