Hamilton. 1865 (Jan 20) Entire letter prepaid to London with red "BERMUDA / H / PAID" c.d.s of Hamilton, and a London Paid arrival c.d.s, both on the front. Carried on the S.S "Alpha" to Halifax then by the "Canada" to Liverpool, red "11d" indicating the amount due to the British Post Office. Pressed horizontal file fold, otherwise superb and rare, the earliest of just nine recorded examples of the datestamp. Ex Ludington and Osborn, illustrated in Ludington's handbook. Photo on Page 10.
